Little River may be one of the Grand Strand's best-kept secrets: a small, working waterfront community just north of North Myrtle Beach with deep roots, fresh seafood, and a full day's worth of things to do. Here's how we'd spend a perfect day there:
Start the morning at Fresh Brunch. Kick off your day with a solid breakfast before you hit the water. Fresh Brunch delivers exactly what the name promises, a great way to fuel up before exploring everything Little River has to offer.
Take a walk through Vereen's Memorial Gardens. After breakfast, head over to this hidden gem. This is one of our favorite places in the whole area and a must visit. Vereen's is a free, publicly accessible nature preserve with miles of walking trails through maritime forest, wetlands, and along the Intracoastal Waterway. It's peaceful, scenic, and genuinely one of the most underrated spots on the entire Grand Strand. Give yourself plenty of time here as it earns a long visit.
Grab lunch at Crab Catchers on the Waterfront. Few things beat fresh seafood with a view of the Intracoastal. Crab Catchers sits right on the water and is a local staple for good reason. Order something from the water and take your time.
Get out on the water. After lunch, the Intracoastal Waterway is calling. Little River offers several options including renting a kayak and set your own pace, booking a fishing charter with a local captain, or grabbing a jet ski rental if you're feeling a little more adventurous. Any of the three makes for a great afternoon.
Dinner at Hurricane Juels. As the day winds down, Hurricane Juels is a natural stop for dinner. The waterfront atmosphere and casual vibe fit perfectly with everything the day has been.
Finish the night on the Big M Casino Boat. Here's something you won't find anywhere else on the Grand Strand: a real casino. The Big M Casino Boat sails out to international waters, making it the only legal casino gaming option in the area. It's a fun, unique way to close out a great day in Little River.
